Raffles Family Office looks to capitalize on the Africa-Asia corridor with the appointment of a former government official from Rwanda.
Raffles Family Office (RFO) has appointed Jean de Dieu Uwihanganye as principal, emerging markets and business development, according to an announcement. In the newly created role, he will focus on engagement across the Africa-Asia investment corridor.
Based in Hong Kong, he reports to group CEO Chi Man Kwan.
Uwihanganye has more than 15 years of experience spanning government, capital and cross-border business, most recently serving as Rwanda’s Minister of State for Infrastructure. Prior to that, he was Rwanda’s High Commissioner to Singapore, Australia, New Zealand and Brunei, and Ambassador to Indonesia. Earlier in his career, he was a director at a leading construction company in Rwanda.
Fastest-growing population
Africa is the world’s youngest and fastest-growing population, which is projected to reach 2.5 billion by 2050. Under the African Continental Free Trade Area, the single market is home to 1.3 billion and a combined GDP of around USD 3.4 trillion. According to RFO, the new appointment reflects the firm’s long-term conviction in Africa with expectations of accelerated wealth creation and demand for sophisticated investment, wealth structuring, and succession solutions.
“We are delighted to welcome Jean. Africa’s potential is greater than many yet recognise, and helping perception catch up with that potential takes people who understand both ends of the corridor. We look forward to what we can build together as our engagement with the region develops,” Kwan said.
RFO is a multi-family office with dual headquarters in Hong Kong and Singapore, alongside a presence in Bangkok, Beijing, Shanghai, and Taipei.
