Bank of Singapore has named a 15-year institutional investment veteran as its new head of alternatives.
Bank of Singapore has appointed Benjamin Low as head of alternative investments, according to a statement, effective August 17. In the role, he will lead the growth of the bank’s alternatives platform, including private equity, private credit, venture capital, infrastructur, and real estate, to meet client needs.
Based in Singapore, he reports to global chief investment officer Jean Chia.
Low has over 15 years of institutional leadership experience across alternatives strategy, portfolio positioning, and manager selection. He was most recently head of Asia hedge funds research at Cambridge Associates, where he advised on multi-billion-dollar portfolios for endowments, family offices, pension funds, and corporate investors.
“We are excited to welcome Benjamin to further strengthen our investment leadership bench. His strong track record advising sophisticated institutional investors will be instrumental as we focus on our Whole Portfolio Approach to deliver best-in-class investment solutions and differentiated opportunities,” said Chia.
One of Bank of Singapore’s major goals is to become a thought leader in investments. Earlier this year, it announced that Yazid Mahadi, head of funds selection, would take on expanded responsibilities to include the development and curation of the bank’s hedge fund offering. OCBC’s private banking unit also recently refreshed its chief investment office global advisory council with the addition of PIMCO vice chairman John Studzinski and KKR chief investment strategist Lauren Goodwin.
