UK-based Brown Shipley, a Quintet Private Bank, has appointed Helen Whelan as its new chief risk officer (CRO), subject to regulatory approval, and effective immediately.
Whelan succeeds Fiona Woodhouse in the role, and brings more than 15 years of experience working at LGT Wealth Management, where she held various senior roles, most recently serving as head of risk and member of the management board.
In her new role, Whelan will be based in London and will serve on Brown Shipley’s executive committee, reporting to CEO Calum Brewster. She will also serve as a member of Quintet’s group risk leadership team, reporting to Christine Lynch, Quintet’s group CRO. In her new role, Whelan will be responsible for further strengthening risk management practices and controls at Brown Shipley.
Commenting on Whelan’s appointment, Brewster said: “Drawing on her extensive experience and deep knowledge of risk management, she will build upon the progress we have already made in strengthening our risk culture.”
Lynch added that with Whelan on board, she hopes to achieve “further alignment and consistency in our risk management practices across Quintet”.
