Toronto-headquartered CIBC has announced the appointment of a new family office head to strengthen its coverage of ultra-rich clients in Canada.
CIBC has appointed Jean-Frederic Gagne as managing director and head, CIBC Family Office, according to an announcement. In the national role, he will lead the strategy and continued evolution of CIBC Family Office in Canada, with a focus on deepening client relationships, strengthening the enterprise coverage model, and advancing the “One CIBC” approach, which leverages the capabilities of the entire group.
Gagne has extensive experience advising ultra-high net worth (UHNW) families, entrepreneurs, and business owners in Canada and internationally, previously holding leadership roles across corporate finance, global family office coverage, and single-family offices in Asia. He was most recently the head of transaction execution and corporate finance at BDG & Partners.
“This appointment reflects continued momentum in CIBC’s Ultra-High-Net-Worth strategy and reinforces the important role CIBC Family Office plays in the bank’s Wealth growth agenda,” the bank said. “CIBC welcomes Jean-Frederic as it continues to enhance its Family Office capabilities and support clients in navigating complexity, preserving wealth, and achieving their ambitions across generations.”
