We are pleased to announce that Kaustubh Kulkarni (KK) will join Citi as Co-Head of Japan, Asia North and Australia (JANA) and Asia South Investment Banking Coverage, serving alongside Jan Metzger. KK will join in December, subject to necessary approvals, and be based in Singapore.
KK and Jan will both report to me and serve on the Banking Executive Team and the Banking Operating Team.
KK joins following 28 years with J.P. Morgan where he most recently served as Senior Country Officer, India and Vice Chair of Asia Pacific. During his nearly three decades with J.P. Morgan, KK also held a range of other leadership roles including Head of India, Head of Investment Banking, India and Co-Head for SE Asia Investment Banking. He brings a distinguished track record of driving revenue growth and leading award-winning teams.
KK is an outstanding banker with strong and deep relationships across public and private sector clients and regulators. Throughout his career, KK has been instrumental in driving many transformational transactions across Asia and beyond.
We are confident the strong momentum we’ve been generating globally will continue to accelerate with the addition of KK. His extensive experience makes him the perfect partner with Jan to drive our franchise to even greater heights. Their complementary skill sets and deep knowledge of the region will be invaluable for our clients and colleagues.
Jan joined Citi in 2015 and is recognized as one our most passionate and creative leaders. He has held a range of senior roles over the past decade in Asia Pacific, including leadership of our Corporate and Investment Banking franchise.
Jan assumed responsibility for JANA and Asia South Investment Banking Coverage in November 2023 and has driven an increase in client coverage intensity which has been instrumental in contributing to Citi’s strong performance. The addition of yet another seasoned leader in KK, alongside Jan, will further accelerate this progress.
