Coutts & Co. has named Dame Anne Richards as its next chair, succeeding Lord Remnant who will step down in September 2025.

Richards is currently chief executive of Fidelity International, a position she has held since 2018. She will join the board of Coutts’ parent company, NatWest Group’s wealth businesses, as non-executive chair following regulatory approval.

According to NatWest Group, Richards will also become chair of Adam & Company and the Isle of Man Bank.

“She brings with her a wealth of experience in financial services and a strong track record of leadership,” said Paul Thwaite, CEO of NatWest Group, in a statement. “We look forward to working with her as we continue to grow our wealth businesses.”

She stated in LinkedIn post: “It is a privilege to be joining one of the UK’s strongest brands at such an exciting time. I am looking forward to working with the Board and the management team to deliver excellence for our clients as the chosen partner for private banking and wealth management in the UK.”

Richards has previously held senior roles at Aberdeen Asset Management and Merrill Lynch Investment Managers. She is also a former non-executive director of the Bank of England.
