Coutts, famously referred to as the “Queen’s Bank”, has appointed a managing director who previously worked at UBS for 25 years.
Shona Baijal has been named as managing director, Coutts Wealth, according to an announcement, based in the UK. She joins from UBS where she spent 25 years, most recently as head of private clients UK.
“I am delighted to welcome Shona to Coutts. Shona brings extensive private banking and wealth management expertise. Her deep understanding of the UK market will be instrumental as we continue strengthening our support for high and ultra high net worth clients. I look forward to working with her as we deliver on our strategy to deepen relationships with and grow our client base,” said Emma Crystal, CEO of Coutts.
Established in 1692, Coutts is the private wealth arm of UK-listed parent NatWest, with a longstanding heritage that includes renowned individuals as clients, including the British royal family which led to it being referred to as the “Queen’s Bank”. In 2025, NatWest announced its ambition to be the “UK’s number one chosen partner for Private Banking & Wealth Management”, as the overall wealth business saw assets under management and administration grow by GBP9.6 billion to GBP58.5 billion.
