DBS Private Bank has launched a new private markets investment solution in partnership with global investment manager Hamilton Lane, targeting ultra-high-net-worth individuals and family offices in Asia seeking broader exposure to alternative assets.
The new platform, Private Assets Tailored by Hamilton Lane (PATH), enables qualifying accredited investors to construct personalised portfolios across private equity, private credit, infrastructure and real estate. According to DBS, the solution offers clients greater control, diversification and access to institutional-quality fund selection and monitoring.
“We’ve seen a nearly five-fold increase in our clients’ assets under management in private assets over the past five years,” said Shee Tse Koon, group head of consumer banking and wealth management at DBS. “With PATH, we are taking this momentum further by offering our clients an investment solution that comes with a level of customisation, transparency and diversification rarely seen in the private wealth space,” according to a statement from the bank.
DBS said PATH lowers traditional entry thresholds for private markets investing and has already attracted strong interest from clients, including one family office that has allocated capital through the platform to complement its existing alternatives strategy.
Hamilton Lane, a Nasdaq-listed private markets specialist, is responsible for fund sourcing, portfolio construction and ongoing monitoring. As of 31 March 2025, Hamilton Lane manages and supervises approximately USD 958 billion in assets globally, drawing on 34 years of private markets expertise and access to proprietary data through Cobalt—one of the industry’s largest databases with insights on over 64,070 funds and 164,490 portfolio companies. This depth of insight underpins the firm’s due diligence and portfolio construction process.
“Asia’s private wealth investors are among the most sophisticated globally,” said James Martin, head of global client solutions at Hamilton Lane. “This partnership is a key step in bringing them institutional-quality access to private markets, where we see long-term opportunities across sectors and geographies,” according to the firm.
The PATH platform is also integrated into DBS’s broader advisory offering. Clients will be able to access opportunities through the bank’s Private Assets Club, which focuses on emerging themes such as artificial intelligence, biotechnology, space innovation and climate-related technologies.
According to the 2025 UBS Global Family Office Report, private equity now accounts for more than 20% of global family office portfolios, making it the largest alternative asset class. Public equities remain the dominant asset class overall.
DBS said it expects PATH to support its broader strategy of expanding alternatives access among private clients, particularly as wealth owners seek differentiated sources of return amid persistent macroeconomic volatility.
