HarbourVest Partners, a global private markets investment firm, has named Venu Krishnamurthy as managing director and head of global private wealth—a move that formalises its focus on private wealth distribution and expands leadership capacity in this segment.

Krishnamurthy brings close to three decades of experience in financial services. He was most recently global head of Aladdin Wealth, BlackRock’s digital platform for wealth management clients. Before joining BlackRock, he spent more than ten years at Citigroup in leadership roles across the United States, Asia-Pacific, and EMEA, including as president of Citigold Wealth Management.

His appointment follows an internal transition. Alex Rogers, who previously led HarbourVest’s private wealth activities while serving as chief strategy officer, will now concentrate solely on his strategy role, according to a company statement.

Headquartered in Boston, HarbourVest Partners is a private markets investment firm with more than USD 147 billion in assets under management as of 31 March 2025. The firm invests across primary, secondary, and co-investment strategies, and has been gradually building its capabilities to serve high-net-worth individuals and intermediated channels.

“The private wealth channel represents a significant growth opportunity,” said Peter Wilson, managing director and co-chief executive officer at HarbourVest. “Venu’s experience leading digital and advisory platforms across institutions positions him to help scale our efforts in this space.”

Demand for private markets access has been rising among individual investors and family offices. Wealth managers and private capital firms have responded by expanding distribution infrastructure and digital platforms. Krishnamurthy’s background at Aladdin Wealth is expected to support HarbourVest’s engagement with these evolving client expectations.

He will be based in New York and report to the firm’s executive management committee. He holds a degree from the National Institute of Technology, Surathkal and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.

“The wealth channel is evolving fast. Investors expect transparency, access, and tailored solutions,” Krishnamurthy said in a statement. “I look forward to helping HarbourVest expand its reach and deliver private markets access at scale.”
