The number of crypto millionaires fell by nearly half after prices dropped from an all-time high in 2025, according to a report by Henley & Partners, though adoption continues to rise with the number of users exceeding 700 million.
Individual owners holding over USD 1 million in crypto assets totaled 136,694 as of 31 August 2026, according to Henley & Partner’s Crypto Wealth Report 2026. This compares to 241,700 in the previous report, which dates the gathering of statistics at 30 June 2025.
In between these periods, Bitcoin fell by around 28% after reaching an all-time high of over USD 126,000 on 6 October 2025 before falling to around USD 77,500, as of publishing.
There is currently also 290 crypto centi-millionaires holding USD 100 million and 23 crypto billionaires compared to 450 and 36, respectively, in the last report.
Adoption continues to rise
Nonetheless, adoption continues to rise with the total number of crypto users reaching 742 million, compared to 590 million in the previous report.
In the Henley Crypto Adoption Index 2026 featuring 36 markets, Singapore was named as the top hub for digital currencies, scoring 47.1 out of 60 based on six parameters, including public adoption, infrastructure adoption, innovation and technology, regulatory environment, economic factors, and tax-friendliness. UAE was in second place, followed by Hong Kong, USA, and Switzerland.
“Crypto millionaires are also increasingly mobile, and governments are competing not for where their wealth is held, but for where they choose to live, invest, and build their futures. A self-custodied fortune can move across borders with its owner, weakening the traditional ties between wealth and place,” commented Dominic Volek, group head of private clients and a member of the executive committee at Henley & Partners.
“For crypto wealth holders, this makes the choice of where to establish themselves unusually consequential.”
