London-headquartered HSBC will form an artificial intelligence centre in Singapore with plans to create more than 200 new roles in the city-state across tech and wealth.
HSBC will establish a new Global AI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Singapore in the second half of 2026, according to a statement. The centre will work closely with teams in wealth management and global payments solutions, as well as David Rice, the bank’s first chief AI officer appointed in March this year.
The new AI CoE will hire over 100 AI specialists to build capabilities for global application. It will also further add 100 relationship managers across premier and private banking over the next two years in the city-state.
“Singapore’s strong talent and dynamic ecosystem will help drive our global AI vision – to empower our colleagues to use AI to create a personalised experience for each customer, deliver it safely, in real time and at scale, while keeping human judgment, decision-making and accountability at the core,” commented HSBC CEO Georges Elhedery.
HSBC has been accelerating the deployment of AI within its wealth management business in recent times. In September 2025, its private banking arm launched a generative AI-powered ecosystem, Wealth Intelligence, for client-facing staff, investment counsellors, and product specialists to provide clients with market insights and personalised investment strategies. In June 2026, it announced a multi-year partnership with Google Cloud to build AI capabilities across its global operations, including hyper-personalised wealth management advice.
