Standard Chartered’s former finance chief has joined Zurich-based private bank Julius Baer as its new CFO.
Julius Baer has appointed Peter Burrill as chief financial officer (CFO) and a member of the bank’s executive board, according to a statement, effective August 17 and subject to regulatory approval. He replaces current CFO Evie Kostakis, who the bank announced in April would be stepping down.
Burrill has over 30 years of experience working in Germany, the UK, and the US. He was most recently at Standard Chartered, where he served for nine years, last as its interim group CFO and member of the group management team. Previously, he also worked at Deutsche Bank and KPMG.
“We are delighted to welcome Pete to Julius Baer. He brings profound depth and breadth of financial expertise, having led the full range of finance and regulatory functions. With extensive international experience across our core markets and working at a bank strongly focused on wealth management, he will be an outstanding addition to our team as we continue to strengthen and grow our leading wealth franchise and build on the strong partnerships across all stakeholder groups,” said Julius Baer CEO Stefan Bollinger.
