Royal Bank of Canada has named Bee Leng Phua as Chief Operating Officer for its Wealth Management business in Asia, effective 1 November 2025.
Phua will succeed Kamran Azim, who is set to retire after more than two decades with the bank. She will be based in Singapore and report directly to Rod Ireland, Head of Wealth Management Asia.
An RBC spokesperson confirmed the appointment in a statement to industry publications, describing Phua as a seasoned executive with over 20 years of experience in private banking and wealth operations. Prior to joining RBC, she held leadership roles at HSBC, Credit Suisse and UBS, with a focus on client service delivery and operational strategy.
Ireland noted that Phua’s appointment comes at a time of continued growth for RBC’s wealth platform in Asia, where the Canadian bank is deepening its focus on ultra-high-net-worth clients across key markets including Greater China and Southeast Asia.
RBC Wealth Management Asia has made a series of senior hires in recent months, expanding its coverage and support functions amid intensifying competition for talent in the region.
