As India’s ultra-high net worth families grow more international and complex, Barclays Private Bank is focused on delivering institutional-quality investment solutions tailored to clients’ evolving needs. Through the Power of One Barclays, clients gain access to a full suite of capabilities—from global markets to private banking, investment, and corporate banking.
Adrish Ghosh, Managing Director at Barclays Private Bank India, brings more than 25 years of experience across advisory, structuring and institutional finance. He works closely with ultra-high net worth individuals, business families and family offices, helping them access the full breadth of Barclays’ global platform — spanning investments, lending, structuring and cross-border capabilities.
Since joining Barclays Private Clients India in 2008, Ghosh has played a central role in shaping the firm’s private banking presence in the country. He was initially tasked with setting up the Wealth Advisory and Structuring business, advising large Indian and overseas business families on ownership structures and long-term wealth planning. In 2017, he took on responsibility as Head of Sales and Distribution for Barclays Private Clients India, expanding his remit to client coverage and franchise development.
That evolution has coincided with a period of renewed investment in the India business. “It has been a period of significant transformation for our India business compared to previous years as we made significant investments into enhancing our capabilities to further strengthen our people, product and platform proposition,” Ghosh says.
A defining feature of the India franchise is its integrated operating model. Barclays Private Bank works closely with its investment bank and corporate bank teams to deliver coordinated solutions, particularly for entrepreneurial families with complex business and cross-border needs. “Barclays is best placed to be the market leader by combining global connectivity with local market expertise,” Ghosh notes, adding that clients benefit from “our ability to offer depth across jurisdictions, while delivering consistent service and strategic insight”.
The expansion of banker coverage, up by almost 25% over the past year, reflects that ambition. Ghosh expects demand to continue shifting towards tailored advisory, cross-border capabilities and deeper engagement across investment, succession and liquidity planning. “Our focus is on staying relevant to clients as their priorities become more global, more complex, and more nuanced,” he says.
