Standard Chartered has grown its chief investment office team with the hire of experts across equities, FX, and alternatives.
Standard Chartered’s chief investment office (CIO) team has added five new individuals, according to an announcement, as part of its commitment to placing CIO insights at the centre of its wealth advisory capabilities.
Within the equities strategy team, Robin Xie and Cindy Lam have been appointed as senior investment strategists while Ryan Goh has been named as investment strategist.
Based in Singapore, Xie, who joins from PineBridge Investments where he was managing equity portfolios, will focus on developing opportunistic ideas. Hong Kong-based Lam has over 10 years of experience covering various equity sectors in the sell-side and at Bloomberg, and will communicate the bank’s equity views locally as well as sharpen regional views within the Asia ex-Japan market. Goh was most recently working at UBS’s CIO, and will focus on investment content, global tech portfolio, and research new portfolios.
In FX, Vincent Tan joins as a senior investment strategist to focus on developing medium-term strategy by translating macroeconomic developments and CIO views into clear investment perspectives. He has over 30 years of experience across global financial markets, having held senior roles in private banking, investment advisory, and portfolio management.
Jay Harindrar has been hired as investment strategist to support the bank’s CIO offering in alternatives, across private markets and hedge fund strategies. He was most recently working at BlackRock, where he was focused on fundraising in private markets.
Xie, Lam, and Goh report to senior investment strategist Fook Hien Yap. Tan reports to Jonathan Liang, chief investment officer for fixed income and FX, while Harindrar reports to Manpreet Gill, chief investment officer for Africa, Middle East, and Europe.
