Standard Chartered surpassed its sustainable finance income target with $1.07 billion in 2025 and achieved net-zero emissions in its own operations after cutting its carbon footprint by 96% since 2018.
International banking group Standard Chartered reported that it generated $1.07 billion in income from sustainable finance activities in 2025, marking a 9% increase compared with the previous year and exceeding its target of reaching $1 billion in annual sustainable finance income by 2025.
The milestone was disclosed alongside the publication of the bank’s 2025 annual report, highlighting the growing role of sustainability-linked financing across the institution’s global operations. The result reflects increased demand for financial solutions that support climate transition, green infrastructure and sustainable development.
In addition to surpassing its revenue target, Standard Chartered announced that it has achieved net-zero emissions across its own operations, covering Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions. The bank stated that it has reduced its operational carbon footprint by 96% since 2018, signalling substantial progress in lowering emissions from its buildings, energy consumption and other directly controlled activities.
The achievement forms part of the bank’s broader environmental strategy, which combines internal decarbonisation efforts with expanded financing for sustainable projects and low-carbon transitions across the markets it serves.
