Hong Kong-based The Bank of East Asia (BEA) has promoted Jaye Chiu to regional head of private banking. He was previously head of investment products and advisory department for the bank since 2020.
In his new role, Chiu will be responsible for BEA’s private banking operations in Hong Kong and Singapore. In his previous role at the bank, Chiu looked after all regional teams and processes with respect to investment products, securities trading and investment advisory services to personal, corporate and institutional clients across the group, which consists of personal banking, private banking, wholesale banking and BEA China businesses.
In a career spanning nearly two decades, Chiu garnered extensive experience in wealth management and private banking. Prior to BEA, he served as managing director, regional head of investment management at BMO Private Banking, covering the Asia region. Before that, he was the senior managing director, head of investment at EFG Bank. His earlier experience extends to senior roles at BNP Paribas, HSBC and UBS.
Chiu replaces Fritz Chan in the role, who has now been appointed as the acting head of personal banking division at BEA as of July 2024. Chan had joined BEA as head of private banking in October 2021.
