UBS has formed a partnership with MSCI to develop data capabilities focused on private markets transparency for the Swiss bank’s clients and the broader industry.
UBS has established a strategic partnership with MSCI to advance private markets transparency, according to a statement. This will involve the combination of MSCI’s capabilities in independent data, analytics, and models with UBS’s alternatives expertise and client insights across its businesses, including wealth and asset management.
The two firms will further expand MSCI’s AI-powered platform with UBS being an early adopter, before advocating together for broader market adoption and standardization across private markets to foster a private markets ecosystem that connects general partners with institutional and private wealth investors.
The platform will bring fund discovery, portfolio management, analytics and benchmarking capabilities into a single ecosystem, while streamlining data management and driving transparency. It will also leverage automated data processing and independent performance data from MSCI to provide investors with more timely and consistent insights across portfolios.
“This partnership builds on our long-standing relationship with MSCI and our shared ambition to increase transparency in private markets,” said UBS CEO Sergio P. Ermotti.
“As a leading LP, our Unified Global Alternatives business brings extensive industry insights and a deep understanding of clients’ evolving needs. Through our collaboration with MSCI, our goal is to help to shape the next generation of private markets portfolio management solutions and transform the decision-making process for clients across public and private markets.”
Yesterday, BlackRock also enhanced its private markets data capabilities with an announcement that it would expand its Preqin Benchmarks and Indices solutions to include reporting-grade indices and benchmarks to measure performance for the alternative asset class.
