Singapore-based UOB Private Bank has hired a 35-year veteran and heavyweight to lead its growth efforts across Southeast Asia.

UOB Private Bank has appointed Dominique Boer as managing director, regional market head, ASEAN, according to a statement, effective September 17. In the role, she will lead strategic development of the bank’s ASEAN franchise with a focus on deepening client relationships, strengthening market leadership, and accelerating growth.

Based in Singapore, she will report to head of UOB Private Bank Chew Mun Yew.

Boer has 35 years of financial services experience across private banking, retail banking, SME and corporate banking. In the past two decades, she held senior leadership roles in private banking, most recently at UBS Global Wealth Management where she led private client and international market businesses, including coverage of the Philippines, India and Australia, as well as private wealth and global financial intermediary segments.

Southeast Asian ambitions

The ASEAN region is key to UOB Private Bank’s growth ambitions as its looks to leverage its network across Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam, where it serves more than eight million customers, including entrepreneurs, family businesses, SMEs, and corporates. Through its one-bank proposition, UOB has dedicated client advisors to bring together expertise across private banking, corporate and investment banking, global markets, and financing to deliver solutions tailored to entrepreneurial wealth.

Earlier this year, the bank unveiled its goal of doubling wealth management income by 2030.
